ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Tom Cook

WHERE I COME FROM
After I was born in Queens, New York, my father relocated our family to Chicago. In 1969 we moved to Boulder Hill and later into Oswego.
I moved to the downtown Oswego area and then finally settled in the Windcrest neighborhood where I currently live with my wife Donna and German Shepard (Sadie).
We have three adult children, Michael, Alex, and Danielle along with our daughter in-law Lauren and two twin grand babies, Rachel and Emma.
Many other family members such as my mother, brothers, aunts, cousins and extended family live in the community as well.
A THRIVING CAREER
I opened up my electrical contracting company (DL Cook Corp) in 1993 in Oswego. In 2010 we changed our name to Valley Electrical Contractors, Inc. We are currently located on Route 71 in Oswego.
In the 28 Years of contracting we have performed, and are currently performing many projects in Oswego and the surrounding areas:
6 new schools for District 308
2 remodeled schools in District 308
The Woolley Road Fire Station
The Oswego Library
The New Village Hall Building
Multiple projects at Fox Metro
The Plano Walmart
The Hollywood Casino Dockside Gaming Facility
The Hollywood Casino Parking Garage and many more
Since 1993 my firm has performed as much as $12 million of work in one year.
Currently I sit on the Board of Directors for the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). I am a trustee for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, (IBEW) Health and Welfare Program. In this position, I sit on multiple committees: finance, negotiation, labor management. In the past I was chairman of the audit committee.
At age 58, I have stepped down from the day-to-day operation of Valley Electrical Contractors, Inc and my son Alex has stepped up to fill my position. Today I serve in an advisory management capacity for Valley Electrical Contractors, Inc. I handle corporate management issues such as insurance, control policies, labor safety concerns, union labor management responsibilities, banking and bonding relationships etc.
In 2001 I started my real estate venture TJC Apartments. It consist of many single family and multifamily properties in Oswego and Montgomery. At TJC Apartments we are self managed and we have a full-time staff who perform all the maintenance responsibilities such as snow removal, grass cutting, painting, etc.
Experience Meets Opportunity
All this brings me to the opportunity of running for the Oswego Township Highway Commissioner Position.
The current Highway Commissioner is stepping away after his term is up this year.
With my experience and proven success in owning and managing two companies, I feel that I “check off all the boxes” of the person needed to fill this position.
I would appreciate your Vote on April 6th.
